Hello, my name is Gimli, named after the brave warrior in Lord of the Rings. I’m a sweet 19-month old Great Pyrenees boy.

The first year and a half of my life was great, living with my family, until one day we took a drive. I was excited… until I learned they were driving me to the local animal shelter and leaving me there. They said it was because they couldn’t afford my food, but I promise I don’t really eat that much. I hated the shelter. I didn’t have an appetite and I was very scared and extremely confused. One of the shelter volunteers noticed and decided right then and there that I was going to come home with her, and I knew from that moment on I’d be living the good life and never see the inside of a shelter again.

My foster mom says I have the most beautiful fur she’s ever seen (and just wait till you see my winter coat). I weigh 80lbs but I’m nice and compact—a low center of gravity makes it quicker to get to any snacks that may have fallen to the floor—score! I love walks and I’m fantastic in a harness (I don’t pull at all). I do great in public places; I don’t mind crowds or noise, and I love kids and any dogs I meet. In fact, I’d be a great candidate as a certified therapy dog (but I’m fine not being one, too). I’m not a big barker, and I have nice manners. Cats are my friends, and I even walked by chickens and donkeys and barely even glanced their way.

I can’t wait to meet my forever family, because families should be forever.
